Created in 1804, it comprised several companies. Each piece (6 or 8-pound gun) was served by a trained crew. The Guard Horse Artillery was present at all the major battles of the Empire.
The Guard Horse Artillery was the most mobile and accurate. The gunners were mounted, allowing rapid movement. It provided direct support to the Guard cavalry and decisive charges.
