Composed of three to four infantry divisions and a cavalry reserve. Typical strength: 25,000 to 40,000 men. Soult commanded it from 1805 to 1813. The corps took part in the German, Prussian, Spanish and Russian campaigns.
The I Army Corps, commanded by Marshal Soult, was one of the most prestigious. It distinguished itself at Austerlitz by capturing the Pratzen plateau. In 1812, it formed the center of the Grande Armée in Russia.
