Avoiding Cannes controlled by royalists, Napoleon and his Guard took the Alpine route. At Laffrey, he harangued the 5th Line regiment which joined his cause. In twenty days, he reached Paris without firing a shot.
Napoleon landed at Golfe-Juan on March 1, 1815 with about a thousand men. It marked the start of the Route Napoléon toward Grenoble and Paris.
